Telehealth consultation

How GoMDUSA helps you

We provide a virtual consultation with a licensed medical professional to determine if treatment is appropriate. If so, we can prescribe medicine to help prevent pregnancy after unprotected sex.

Treatment works best when taken as soon as possible. Ulipristal acetate (ella®) can help prevent unintended pregnancy if taken within 5 days (120 hours) of unprotected sex.

Who we can't help

If any of the following apply, please see a doctor in person instead of using our service.

We only prescribe when we're confident it's safe and appropriate.

  • Under 18 or 56 or older
  • Currently or possibly pregnant
  • Breastfeeding
  • Unprotected sex more than 5 days (120 hours) ago
  • Taking seizure medicines, mood stabilizers, HIV medicines, or St. John's Wort

Treatment and risks

Important information about emergency contraception and our online service.

We'll only prescribe if we're confident it's safe and appropriate. Online diagnosis has limitations — we may prescribe when you don't need treatment, or decline when you do.

There are alternatives to our prescribed treatments, including over-the-counter options. You may decline treatment, but that carries a risk of pregnancy.

Risks of prescription medicine

Ulipristal acetate (ella®) is generally safe but rarely can cause serious side effects including severe allergic reaction, disability, and death. Read the package insert for full warnings.

Do not take this medicine if you are already pregnant or think you may be pregnant. Emergency contraception reduces but does not eliminate pregnancy risk.
