Treatment and Risks
What to expect during your online asthma consultation
Your Online Consultation
One of our doctors or nurse practitioners will go over the answers to your health questions before your video appointment starts. They'll review your medical history as well as any treatment for asthma you've tried in the past. If you know your peak flow rate, let us know.
During your online visit, a member of our medical team will help you understand available treatment options, as well as their associated risks.
Important Health Information
Please answer all questions as truthfully as possible, especially if you're taking other medications. It's critical to your health and safety that the GoMDUSA medical team knows your entire medical history.
Potential Limitations
As with any medical examination, there's a small risk we'll get the diagnosis wrong. Because we can't meet and examine you in person, there's the additional possibility that we may miss something medically relevant or give you the wrong advice.
If we're in any doubt, we'll ask you to see a doctor or nurse practitioner in person for a follow-up consultation. We know it's frustrating, but it's just not safe to treat certain medical conditions online. GoMDUSA follows evidence-based guidelines and industry standards when diagnosing, prescribing for, and advising our patients online.
Who We Can't Treat
Important limitations of our online asthma treatment service
Our online asthma treatment is designed for patients who have already been diagnosed with asthma and need prescription refills or adjustments to their current treatment plan. For your safety, we cannot treat patients who:

- Have shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, or are wheezing
- Have chest pain
- Are experiencing confusion
- Have been hospitalized during the past week

- Need paperwork for a disability evaluation, work compensation, time off, or HSA/FSA reimbursement
- Use supplemental oxygen or need a prescription for supplemental oxygen
- Require daily prednisone, theophylline, desensitization injections, or biologic medicines
If you're experiencing a severe asthma attack or other emergency, please call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room immediately.
